State-of-the-art knowledge from across the spectrum of cardiovascular medicine

Cardiovascular Medicine is the official publication of the Swiss Society of Cardiology, the Swiss Society for Angiology, the Swiss Society of Hypertension and the Swiss Paediatric Cardiology Society.

The open access journal Cardiovascular Medicine is an international clinical practice journal.

The journal publishes reviews from recognized experts in the field, covering current topics and news pertaining to cardiology, angiology, hypertension, cardiovascular surgery, as well as other related disciplines, and selected reports of original research. These articles are rounded off with in-depth guidelines, the latest developments in the scientific community, as well as clinical case reports. There are also special editions that focus on hot topic issues, as well as summary reports of national conferences, such as the annual meeting of the Swiss Society of Cardiology.

The quality of the publications is guaranteed by a consistent policy of rigorous single-blind peer review. All editorial decisions are made by research-active academics. CVM adheres to the “Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing”.

EMH Swiss Medical Publishers Ltd. guarantees the editorial independence of the journal. The editors have total responsibility, authority, and accountability for the scientific content of Cardiovascular Medicine. In order to maintain editorial independence, the principles formulated by the World Association of Medical Editors ("The Relationship Between Journal Editors-in-Chief and Owners") are observed.

Cardiovascular Medicine is an online journal with a continuous publication model. After articles have been accepted for publication and have been corrected by our language editors, the authors will receive proofs for their approval to print. As soon as we have received feedback from the authors, the articles will be published online.

A printed edition of the articles published online appears six times a year and is sent and is sent to all specialists in the corresponding fields in Switzerland.

Cardiovascular Medicine is listed in the "Directory of Open Access Journals" (DOAJ) and thus meets the SIWF's requirements for a peer reviewed journal (see SIWF leaflet [PDF] and information on the title of specialist in cardiology]).

Indexed by: SCOPUS, ROAD, DOAJ, Crossref,  Dimensions, Altmetric

Sources of revenue

Cardiovascular Medicine accepts advertisements to finance the open access publication without page charges and the production of the printed edition. Other sources of income are subscriptions of the print version and the sale of reprints, rights, and royalties.

Serious magazines, however, are not published for the sake of earning advertising revenue, but sell advertising for the sake of being published. This underlying principle steers all activities at Swiss Medical Publishers EMH. Our editing and marketing teams are strictly divided up, fully preventing the content of our magazines from becoming mired in business-related interests.

EMH Swiss Medical Publishers Ltd. guarantees the editorial independence of the journal. Advertisements are not related in any way to editorial decisions.

EMH ensures that the advertising opportunities offered comply with the provisions of the Swiss Federal Act on Medicinal Products and Medical Devices, the Regulation on the Advertising of Medicinal Products and the guidelines of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences. An internal guideline prepared by the executive board complements the legal framework and provides additional guidelines for the selection of advertisers in EMH products. In case of doubt, a commission consisting of the sales team and editorial staff decides on the acceptance or rejection of advertisements. Advertisements and PR articles are clearly marked and designed differently from the editorial text.
